Former Children’s Laureate Joins Line Up

Acclaimed children’s author Michael Morpurgo MBE is the first speaker to be announced in the line up for this year’s Folkestone Literary Festival (2nd – 10th November). The popular author will take part in what promises to be an exciting programme of events for 2007.

The Festival has become a well established event attracting top name authors and playing a key role in the arts- and education-led regeneration of Folkestone. A wide programme of events is planned for this year, including the popular History Weekend, environmental days and a special focus on engaging children and young adults in literature.

Festival Director Ellie Beedham said, "This year’s Festival will build on the success of last year’s event and will introduce some innovative ideas. Alongside our traditional programme of speakers, we will be running family and nursery reading sessions and working closely with local youth groups for the first time to attract as wide an audience as possible. We will also be hosting creative writing sessions with journalists and authors, organising poetry performances and arranging film screenings."

Detailed programme information will be announced shortly and updated here on the website.
